My favorite time of day is Daybreak, when the inky night begins to fade away, and early morning light appears. The world transforms into mysterious hues of lavenders and dusky blues, and then slowly into soft seashell pinks and warm corals. I love that there is so much hopeful energy ahead of the rising sun! Those beautiful monochromatic early morning hours are unique ... your eyes focus mostly on lines and layers, shadows and glimmers of light, all the while seeking patterns of familiarity. The saturated palette of Daybreak is a fresh departure from the more muted coastal colors that often grace my designs ... yet, as always, there remains a consistent, watercolor-inspired fluidity to my designs and a desire to honor a moment in time, however brief. In Daybreak, I feel, I have captured the essence of hope and renewal. - Shell Rummel
